Primus Technologies contributes $300,000 to Diocese of Scranton

Tuition assistance for students at St. John Neumann Regional Academy in Williamsport and at other Diocesan Catholic schools once again is being supported by the generosity of Primus Technologies Corp., a leading Electronics Manufacturing Services provider headquartered in Williamsport. Primus Technologies donated $300,000 earlier this year to the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Scholarship Tax Credit Program.

“We are pleased to continue our support of St. John Neumann Regional Academy and the Diocese of Scranton Catholic schools,” said Chris Sullivan, chairman and CEO of Primus Technologies. “Primus is grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Diocese in its efforts to offer a quality education to its students.”

Primus Technologies has contributed nearly $1.5 million since 2008 to the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation in support of St. John Neumann Regional Academy and the Diocese of Scranton Catholic School System.

“We are thankful to Chris Sullivan and everyone at Primus Technologies for their continued commitment to our Diocesan Scholarship Foundation,” said Monsignor David L. Tressler, diocesan secretary for Catholic Education and superintendent of schools. “This gift has a significant impact on the amount of tuition assistance we can offer to our Catholic School families.”

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit programs are offered by the state Department of Community and Economic Development and provide significant tax credits to businesses in the state. Gifts through these programs are the primary source of need-based tuition assistance available to our Catholic school families in the diocese.

“I would recommend the tax credit program to any business in Pennsylvania who wishes to support the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation. It’s a great program that offers companies an incentive to invest in organizations in our local community,” Sullivan said.
